MANUFACTURING LOCALLY FOR MANY AUSTRALIAN BUSINESSES HAS BECOME A THING OF THE PAST. GLOBAL COMPETITION HAS MEANT MANY PRODUCTS ARE NOW BEING IMPORTED BUT RARELY SUPPORTED LOCALLY.
Since 1953 Abey has been continuously manufacturing Australian Made products and embrace this as an opportunity rather than a threat as they have been able to not only compete with these cheap imports on price, utilising automation and lean manufacturing processes, but their products are of a higher and more consistent quality and conform to our Australian Standards. And importantly, offer the local support that imports cannot match. By constantly developing products locally, Abey have assured the viability and longevity of their manufacturing business well into the future.
Continuity of Supply
The global pandemic has changed how many organisations viewed their reliance on imported overseas products. Supply in virtually all industries was curtailed and uncertainty of timely delivery was a major constraint for all Australian businesses that relied solely on imports. Continuity of supply is the lifeblood for most businesses. The unexpected pandemic has been a lesson in how being reliant on an external supply line with little or no control can decimate successful businesses. Demand is outstretching supply and what was once considered a cheap 3rd world supply stream prices have been increasing as their local economies grown to first world status. Ensuing increases in wages and conditions eroding the once financial disparity between overseas and locally produced goods. Positioning Abey at the forefront of quality, reliability and continuity of supply.
Strategic move by Abey to design, import and introduce their Gareth Ashton range of tapware targeting the commercial builder market.
Local manufacturing is the only real solution to ensure continuity of supply as well as quality and local product support which are often not factored into the end price. The by-product of local manufacturing is jobs for the next generation and money that stays in Australia, not overseas.
